I am pleased to be a “new” teacher here at Combs High School. Although I am new to Combs, I am not new to teaching. I retired from Mesa Public Schools where I taught for over 30 years.
I love the ASU maroon and gold. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education. Years later I received my master’s degree, also from ASU, but this time in elementary education.
Last year during my “retirement” I spent at least one day a week working in my daughter’s classroom. She was a first year, first grade teacher in the Florence School District. It was fun being around the little children, but it made me realize that I missed the classroom and really preferred the older ones.
My passion has always been “transition” which involves helping Special Education students set goals for after graduation in the areas of education, employment and independent living. I have advised on the state level in this capacity and I am also on the Governor’s Committee for dropout prevention. This school year I am excited to do inclusion classes with Andrea Dales in 9th grade English, Diane Ouellette in 10th grade English and Brian Taylor in Algebra.
If I can be of any help to you please feel free to contact me.
