Class Information

Theatre I

Introduction to theatre:  What is theatre history? Students will learn of the progression of theatre. They will be exposed to character developement, tools of an actor, stage combat, pantomime, improvisation, monologues, scenes, and working as a group.  They will slso have the chance to write their own monolgues and scenes.

Theatre II  This is a more indepth class containing a detailed exploration of items learned in Theatre I.  Students will concentrate on the elements that create a character. Knowing the type of characters you can play is essentioal.  There will be the examination of plays, their authors, the importance they had in history and how the times affected the styles of writing. They will be writing and performing own scenes.  Students will have the chance to direct other student's performances.

Stage Craft  Students will learn about all aspects of technical theatre and the roles their jobs entail.   This will include acquiring the knowledge of tools, their fapplication and the importance of safety.  We will be building, painting and detailing the sets for the shows,also props and acquiring costumes.  Jobs in the industry will be discussed.
