Class Information

The purpose for art class is to support students who wish to pursue their strong interests in an creative way and/or seek a profession that requires creative skills and a working portfolio; to develop a body of work to show prospective employers their personal talents and abilities; to develop and expand their personal style within each work of art; to create a series of works on a theme; to explore visual culture and aesthetics, all in an attempt to answer the question of what art is.

We will collaborate in discussions and production of these issues through new works of art in exciting ways. We will discuss the value of art in our world, different cultural aspects of art, and the purposes of art. We will explore ideas of technology in art and to what extent art plays a role in this day and age. We will be studying different forms of art styles, artists, and the historical perspectives from which they come.

The art classes offered introduces students to various aspects of art through hands-on projects, art exploration, and problem solving. The varied skills of drawing, color theory, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, craft, and digital art are covered.

We are always accepting donations of materials, time, and resources. As a parent, if you would like to be involved, please let me know what you are able to assist with. You are more than welcome to help out in any way!
