Special Education Department 

        Matt was drafted by the NBA in 1992 to the Golden State Warriors. He played 10 years of professional basketball for the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Washington Bullets, Denver Nuggets, and L.A. Clippers. Matt began his basketball career at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington (UNC-W) where he received many awards including First Team All-Conference, the Thomas V. Mosley Most Outstanding Athlete award, several all-tournament, and MVP honors. Earning a B.A. in Communications at UNC-W, after playing professionally, he went back to school and earned a Master of Arts in Education and an M.B.A.

His education experience includes several years of coaching basketball, substitute teaching, working as a educational speaker for the National Collegiate Scouting Association, started a company that teaches character to students and athletes through the language of sports, and comes from a family of teachers.
