- S1: Read and discussed "Night" by Eli Weisel and "Bourges and I" by Jorges Bourges. Students were assigned a reflection activity, which is due on Tuesday, 05-11. (The reflection activity requires students to identify qualities of their personality that they show on the outside, and qualities that they keep hidden inside. They are then to create either two separate masks or one mask split in half that visually represents the inner and outer self.)
- S2: Read and discussed "A Good Day" by Primo Levi and "Bourges and I" by Jorges Bourges. Students were also assigned the reflection activity, which is due on Tuesday, 05-11.
Wednesday, 05-05--

- Students learned about and read African trickster tales, dilemma tales, chain tales, and the oral tradition (The Elements of Literature: World Literature pages 506-513).
- Homework: The Oral Tradition (due Tuesday, 01-12). Students are to choose a fable, fairy tale, proverb, folk tale, myth, or legend that they enjoy and that represent a value they hold. Students will share their story orally to the class and write a one or two paragraph explanation of how the story represents the value.
