About
As the parent of a student here at Combs High School, and as a teacher, I am pleased with the positive happenings here on campus. My son has enjoyed participating in soccer, band, and the honors program. He has a wonderful group of friends and is preparing himself for college.
Besides my 10th grader, I have a son who is almost 20, a 17 year old senior at Desert Ridge, and a 6 year old who attends school at Ranch. I have been married 21 years, and feel blessed in my choice of husband.
This is my 13th year teaching. It's interesting that even though I've been in this profession for several years, I still feel like there is so much to learn. Every year is different; every group of students is different. I enjoy the challenge and love the interaction with students. My favorite part of teaching is when a student's eyes light up and you know they "get it."
I have several interests and hobbies, but the two I'm most passionate about are reading and writing. An avid reader, I've had to curtail my consumption of books during the school year a bit. My writing has been mainly educational the last few years, as I've written for the Arizona Department of Education, CTB McGraw-Hill, and Pearson Digital Learning. I've had the opportunity to write for and help shape the AIMS test, which has been a blessing. Currently I do some free-lance writing, and I have a couple of book ideas I'd like to pursue.
